Go Green (#50)

To “Go Green” is a popular phrase these days. It’s the concept of eliminating excess in order to minimize one’s impact on earth. Spiritually we also need to eliminate excess but for the opposite affect.

Working Concepts
In the Natural - Eliminate things that are unnecessary in order to minimize impact on the temporal.
In the Spiritual - Eliminate things that are unnecessary in order to maximize impact on the eternal.

What are the things that are hindering our worship? What is keeping us from maximizing our praise? What is keeping us from being passionate, involved, true, committed and fervent worshipers?

Hebrews 12:1 1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

New Poll

I thought since writing comments has seemed to be pretty difficult these days I’d just let you all participate in anonymous polls. If you ever have an idea for a poll please email me. I’d love to hear your ideas. In the mean time, answer what’s on there today. I will be changing it every week. Thank you for your participation!

Good and Bad Gifts

In Genesis chapter 4 we see the account of Cain and Abel bringing an offering to the Lord. Both Cain and Abel brought exactly what they were supposed to yet one was accepted and one was not.

In Mark 12:41-44 we read of Jesus who was watching people put money into the treasury. Some rich men put lots of money in while one poor woman only put in two small copper coins equaling a penny. Jesus has the audacity to say that the poor woman put in more than the rick men. How could this be?

When bringing an offering to God it is usually not a matter of what you bring but how you bring it. Cain and Abel brought what they were supposed to, but God, looking at the heart, was pleased with one and refused the other. Jesus, while watching the people put money into the treasury, used this woman’s heart and all out dependence on God to show the disciples what God is really looking for in a giver.

Let me ask you this; when you worship, is your offering of praise a good or bad gift? Do you lift your hands just because someone told you to, or is your heart in the right place? You see, you can have every motion of worship and fail to offer an acceptable sacrifice. God has always and will always be more concerned with your heart than your form.
